Stefanie was casually sitting in a lawn chair. “The lake is beautiful today”, she says. She watches a mama duck waddle with her chicks across the water. The duck quacks occasionally when one of her babies gets out of line. “It’s hot sitting on this chair”, she thinks, even with the shade of the magnolia trees. “The sweat is rolling down my back. A glass of lemonade with lots of ice would cool me off”, she thinks. Mitch, her husband, also feels hot. He suggests going inside to get a cold glass of lemonade then calling it a day. They needed the rest.
It’s the next day. Mitch and Stefanie sit under the magnolia trees. They watch their daughter and soon to be son in law exchange vows. The relationship between Suella, their daughter, and a childhood friend was uncertain at first. For several years she secretly loved Chase. She wanted to tell him how much she loved him, but…. for many years, she was unsure of his love for her.
It’s ironic how life works out. Today, the wedding is happening under the shade of magnolia trees. It’s by the calmness of the lake, with a cool breeze blowing. It would not have been possible if he never took that risk. Because secretly, he had been in love with our daughter. Isn’t it ironic? Or maybe a “meant to be fairy tale”, between two people.
