“If you listen to birds, every day will have a song in it.”

Kyo Maclear

Canadian novelist and children's author

Today, I will start with my short story of the day, just because I have ideas ...

  1. That letter, the hope of all hopes, was such a refreshing thing to be, also my answer to many tearful nights of grief. The old, torn, tear-stained message was a surprise-my answer to so many questions. Every day, I would walk to my mailbox looking for any sign of correspondence from you. It had been weeks, months, then years since I heard your voice. However, Today was different. I received a letter from you. The thing is, the letter arrived three years too late, but it still changed everything. Today, my grief was different. Instead of longing for you, I felt sorry for you. I had waited three years for the promise of us to be together. The wedding photo of you and another person solidified something for me. I was waiting for a ghost of us. So many years wasted on what could have been between us. That letter proved to me what your idea of love is- and I am so very thankful that you are not my husband, who is not devoted to me. That letter proved to me that it was okay for me to move on. In some form or another, maybe that letter wasn't late after all.

2. I can't participate in every single prompt, although I am sure going to try to absorb every prompt I come across today. Forgive me if I miss one. P.S. Send me a comment if you wish. I will attempt to answer a prompt that I missed. Absorb – Word of the Day Challenge

3. This is not a tablecloth, so to speak, but it is a cat sitter or whatever you call it. My cat wants to take a nap at the most inopportune times. However, I do not argue with him when he does. By the way, see that water spot. It is from a Caramel Frappe from McDonald's. I needed a pick-me-up today. For that, I was thankful. RDP SATURDAY: TABLECLOTH

4. Look at my title for this blog post. I am thankful for 6-word stories. I believe Earnest Hemingway started it. I may be wrong. Remind me to Google it!! What fun I had this week – Travel with Intent

5. This is a blog hop...I repeat...this is a blog hop. I am thankful for blog hops and the wonderful people I have met online. TToT -the Wakefield Doctrine- | the Wakefield Doctrine

6. Google-need I say more? It is awesome to have a card catalog right at my fingertips. Do you remember the card catalog in the library? I am thankful I can look for information on a computer.

7. About that, Ernest Hemingway may or may not have created the six-word story, read here: Still, he wrote a very good one that is still going strong. I am thankful for writers who inspire me to write.

8. I am thankful for good people- those who go the extra mile to help others feel loved and appreciated in this world. Without them, it would be hard to smile.

9. When Fandango says chess is his word for the day, Heidi responds with" I don't play." Mainly because I have to think too much.
That's a bad thing to admit, right? Still, I am thankful for my mind's ability to figure a few things out.

10. About the mind thing, I remember a post I wrote about the color blue in the past. I do not want to revisit that post just yet; however, it was about a blue door. But this post will be about this picture- blue flowers and a blue envelope that probably contained that letter I referred to at the beginning of my post in my short story.

Okay Sammi, with the help of Di, let's wrap this post up!!

The marsh is my home. I watch the mast of the sailboat as the boat drifts on the calm water. I mash the cooked apples for pies, and I think, "Who needs school when I have an abacus to teach me how to do math?" I can read words, too!
