I would have to agree with you on gossip. It is a sin in my faith as well. Not only does it hurt the one speaking the evil words against someone but it damages the one being gossiped about.
We as individuals usually know when a personality trait of ours is different, off, weird. To have another reinforce that by someone else can be emotional damaging crushing or belittling. Words can hurt.
