Teatime Tales Tuesday

Confused and discombobulated,

The fear didn’t leave my mind. I asked myself daily, sometimes more than once. What if one day all my secrets were exposed? Then what? Would others look down on me? Would I be ashamed in front of my family? A hidden video camera had caught some incriminating footage. I saw with my own eyes a murder. The security guard of the storage units knew I saw it too. And now my knowledge of what happened that day was being held against me. But how could I turn him into the authorities when I knew I was guilty too? You see, I was there to steal important documents that were for my coworker. The documents stated he was to inherit his great-grandfather’s mansion. What I witnessed was my coworker, the security guard, murder his great-grandfather. I stole the document earlier that day and changed a few words around in hopes of gaining the inheritance myself. I was nearing homelessness. I needed somewhere to live. My coworker was well-established, and since we were related, I assumed nothing would be questioned. That was until he told me about the hidden video camera. How did I miss its installation the previous week? How did I not know about the camera? I was caught in the act of stealing. Still, I was aware of a murder that I should relay information to the authorities. This was blackmail, yet two wrongs don’t make a right. What should I do?
