Things Work Out-Or So I Believe

Short Story about a girl who loved her parents dearly. A girl named Sandy

In my mind, I hear the sound of the running water from the fountain my dad and I created last summer. Did I mention that we also created a space for a patio so they could sit in the cool breeze at night? They listened to the frogs’ croak and the crickets’ chirp while they sat by the lake after supper. This was my gift to my parents back at home in Maine. A gift I gave them from my first paycheck as a new employee, after so many years of school.

My cottage was my escape from reality. RDP Wednesday: FOUNTAIN, Mention – Word of the Day Challenge, Patio – Word of the Day Challenge, Writing Prompts – Esther Chilton. Sandy was an agent on the Virginia Behavioral Analysis Unit. Her job was stressful. Once a year, she got to take a vacation, and she enjoyed vacationing here, at her cottage by the ocean. She thought to herself, “There isn’t a better way to relax than sitting here in my chair, while listening to the crash of the waves as they break on the sand”. She made a mental note to call her dad in the morning. Maybe he and her mom would be willing to come for a visit. Her parents were dear to her. She enjoys time together.

Her cat brushed his tail on her leg. Having a pet made her heart smile.
