The Joy of Self-Reflection in Parenting

What’s a classic book that you think is overrated?

I remember reading baby books before my son was born, to prepare for being a new mom. Little did I know that children have their own rules for raising them. I’ve heard it said that children come with their own instructions. So true.

These days, my son often finds me talking to myself. He thinks I am talking to him directly. I am not. In fact, when I talk to myself, I often answer myself. I present the problem and solve the problem. All by myself. He doesn’t complain, but I am sure it’s annoying. I do this to my husband also. I will be in the bathroom while he is in the bedroom with my voice muffled by the fan. One day, I will learn that I am wasting my breath. I love to sing. It doesn’t matter if my voice cracks at times. I love trying to harmonize, which most likely sounds off tune. Still, I love it. My personality would be a combination of Tasmanian devil, Eeyore, and Tigger. What a combination, right? I am either sitting down, mad about something, or bubbly and happy. A tired monkey is my cheer. You never know what you’re going to get. #GettoKnowYou

As for today, Peaceful will be my mantra. For my life, really, for here on out. When my mom picked me up this morning, I was talking to her and said how I don’t expect anything good to happen in life anymore. It would be more like what the next bad thing to happen would be. This may be a negative way to think of things, but life chaos does that. Furthermore, everyone has chaos in one way or another. It’s silly for anyone not to expect anything from life. Instead, I will approach each day with humor, acceptance, and grace. My struggle is with bitterness. I need to let things go as I do with expectations of life, just let them go. (not like Elsa in Frozen). Life is what it is.

I remember being a little girl and thinking I didn’t want to smell like a particular person. We are what we are around, right? They were mean and ugly as a personality. I didn’t want those traits. So, I firmly believe I need to be around compassion and grace these days. #LifeLessons

Today was manicure and pedicure day with my mom, which reminds me that I am thankful for a Christian environment at the Salon. Usually, music from my favorite encouraging, positive radio station is playing in the background. It helps ease my soul to be around a helpful, friendly, and caring environment. #ThankfulThursday.

P.S. We got full Service manicures and pedicures

… Not paraffin wax, but everything else. So relaxing. Before I go, I want to leave you a short story,

The frustrated, confused, newt.

This little newt, a cute lizard-like salamander, with a smile on his face, lived down a narrow street near the pizza shop. Every day, he would pace the streets, going back and forth. It seemed like he was going nowhere. Yet, he was going to the pizza shop. Why, you ask? #3TC, #threethingschallenge or TTC

To order a pizza, silly! 🍕

Okay, I’ll take a blog break for now😁

Now, at home, to end my story, I sit to finish today’s post, hoping to find my blood pressure monitor, and that the undulating symphony of nightly chores will be the peaceful mantra I talked about earlier. Praise Be. Soon I can rest. I pray this is not only wishful thinking.

P.S….We are having hot dogs for supper. 🌭

Until Next Time,

Heidi💜
